Memories of Eileen Krog (Best)

Leonard Krog

Eileen Krog (nee Best) - Sept. 20, 1916 to Nov. 8, 2009 – attended French Creek School in 1929 and then moved on to high school at Qualicum Beach. She returned to teach there from 1938 – ’41 and again from 1968 – ’70. She was probably unique in that she was a student and a teacher at FCCS and all four of her children – Sheila, John, Lanny and Leonard – attended French Creek School, likewise her husband and all his siblings. Being born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan to a homesteading family, Eileen lived through the pioneer days of the Prairies and Coombs as well. She once wrote: “even though there were many hardships to live with, I feel privileged to have experienced, in my early years, a part of the last of those pioneering days.”
