In 1928 my grandparents, Matt and Alice Van Horne, settled in Coombs. They raised their 10 children on their homestead on Grafton Ave and many of them raised their children in Coombs. I, like my dad, got my early education at French Creek School. My quilt block is inspired by the dedicated teachers who helped mold me into the person I am today. By making the classroom a fun and interesting place to be, they instilled in me an undying thirst for knowledge. They taught me to lead by example, respect others, and always try to live by the “Golden Rule.” Thank you to all of them.
